Massachusetts Privacy Law - 201 CMR 17

Compliance Luncheon

NuTech and some of its technology partners are sponsoring a free luncheon on January 28 at 11:30AM in the Battle Room at Smith & Wollensky.

This law requires that any company that stores Massachusetts tax payer’s (PII).

(P)ersonal (I)ndividual (I)nformation will be held to a new level of compliance.  Enforcement Takes effect on March 1, 2010.  Companies must show they have implemented a technology plan that will safely and securely protect this data.

Whether Last name,  Social Security Number, Driver's License number, Bank Account Number, Credit or Debit Card Number are in electronic files or databases - data must prove to be safe-guarded against hackers, unethical employees, and entities that would do harm to your customers.

Companies will have to revamp the way they protect customer data and implement a range of access controls, privacy standards and technologies or suffer the consequences. The Massachusetts law (201 CMR 17.00) has gained the most visibility due to its strict guidelines.

No one vendor has ALL of the answers, but the solution providers sponsoring this event are well versed in the pieces to the 201 puzzle.

Do you know where this data is within your company?  Is your company ready?   Are you sure?

Come.  Learn.  Eat.
